Washington Post on NYC’s Adaptation Plan

The Washington Post is reporting today on NYC’s proposed $20 billion Special Initiative for Rebuilding and Resiliency (SIRR), calling it a visionary climate adaptation and disaster resiliency plan.  As Stu Gruskin of Nature Conservancy described at Touro Law Center on July 11, the 438-page plan is ultimately about improving the resiliency of both the natural/built and human environments.  But, as the article continues, the extent to which this ambitious plan will be put into action “might depend on whether the next mayor is as committed to resilience planning as Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg and whether the city can find the remaining $4.5 billion needed to carry out its plans.”
